Spring Clean!


Aloha,
Spring is here! YAY!! Of course there is lots of talk of cleansing and starting fresh in areas of your life. In my world it's alot about nutrition. I wanted to bring something else to your attention today though. While you know I fully support a body (and mind!) cleanse, perhaps you want to check in on some other things in your life...

For your body eat organic, and at the very least, unprocessed foods. Get moving (yoga is amazing!) Upgrade your body care. Look at labels....please! Eliminate High Fructose Corn Syrup to start. Or maybe you can rid your food purchases that contain Sodium Nitrate, Propyl Gallate, Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA), and Butylated Hodroxytoluene (BHT). These are toxic and cancer causing agents.

Rid your house of toxic chemicals.
There are a ton of varieties on the market today. My personal fav is Orange Plus....because it cleans everything! A better step would be mixing baking soda with orange oil though. Super clean and healthy for all surfaces...like the ones you eat off of ;) Look at purchasing natural sponges instead of those brightly coloured ones that are made of synthetic fibers. Use a rag instead of paper towels. This helps save our planet from deforestation too! Avoid toxic food ware. Look to reuse those glass jars. Rinse and reuse bags. Go barefoot to reduce tracking in dirt, pesticides, and lead. Install a shower filter to reduce inhaling and soaking up chlorine.

Vitamin Cottage has an excellent FREE publication that's offer every month. Their April edition has a 30 day detox (see super condensed version below). Im the type of the person to read it and go gung-ho on all of it all at once. In reality though, not everyone looks at that like a possibility. So maybe you choose to take each day to try one of these 30 simple ways to cleanse and energize yourself. Or perhaps you can add a few into your every day routine from now on...or maybe even just for the month. Regardless, invite yourself to awaken to spring cleaning in body, mind, soul, lifestyle :) I hope this spring you find something of value in the above and below information to help your transition into this new season. 1. Kick the coffee
2. Skip the sugar
3. Sweat it out
4. Go organic
5. Keep it moving...your bowels that is ;)
6. Eat superfoods
7. Try hydrotherapy
8. Purge your pantry (heres where that high fructose corn syrup elimination comes in)
9. Make a super smoothie (check out my previous blogs for some great smoothie ideas!)
10. Detox your soul
11. Clean greener (remember those pesky chemicals under the sink that you wouldnt want your child/pet to ingest?)
12. Stock up on fiber
13. Breathe deeply
14. Tone your liver with herbs
15. Stretch daily (Did I mention Im a yoga teacher ;) Come stretch with me!)
16. Unplug.....yes, your phone, compuer, tv, radio, ipod, etc
17. Eat less...like a bird really. This helps give your body a much needed break. No cutting nutrients though!
18. Deep clean your mouth
19. Get rubbed (mind out of the gutter! Get a massage. it has amazing health benefits)
20. Get on the wagon..the non-alcohol, non-drug wagon that is
21. Purify your personal care
22. Dry brush...or at the very least get a loofah for the shower
23. De-plasticize. NEVER heat plastic in the microwave (packaged food, tupperware, saran wrap, etc)
24. Think vegan. Come on you can do it.
25. Purify your water...what you drink and what you bathe in
26. Cook smart. No teflon, silverstone, and other PFC carcinogenic coatings
27. Steam it...and that means no oil!
28. Take a nap. ITS OK!!
29. Meditate... its been proven to be essential to your overall well-being.
30. Juice....your veggies mostly and fruits too!
