So lately Ive been reading this phenomenal text, Survival in the 21st Century- Planetary Healers Manual by Viktoras Kulvinskas. It has me passionate about living a healthy clean life. Even though Im considered a raw vegan and making up new and exciting recipes is a favorite pastime of mine, sometimes a girl still needs that spark in the relationship ya know? ;) SO this manual, has 10 pages of information on the concept of being a fruitatarian alone! Im so excited by alot of what it says that I made the decision to try it for 7 days. Why not? I eat mostly fruit anyways so I figure it will be a great way to clean my system before the holidays and keep me from putting too much unwanted things on my plate...hopefully!
I will blog about the day to day because I get so many requests for advice on cleansing. Maybe this is something you too will want to try. My friend Justin has already made the commitment, though he plans on a 3 day stint ;)
As you all are aware, hopefully anyways, cleansing is such an imperative tool for us to undertake on a routine basis. Everyday, every moment, we are bombarded with toxins; the air we breathe, the food we eat, the liquids we drink, the electricity we absorb, and the energy we exchange with everything and everyone in life. Cleansing in any fashion is no doubt imperative to maintain our health and prevent dis-ease. Cleansing starts with activity of course and then you can progress by taking it into your nutritional routines. Below I have shared some of the information I have outlined in the manual. I hope you find it helpful and educational!
Just in case you were wondering how one even goes about eating what:
Breakfast was a cherry banana smoothie with cacao (yes chocolate is a fruit!) and acai berry. I had 8 oz of apple juice at lunch because I honestly wasnt very hungry. I plan on having pears with blueberry glaze (blueberries blended with water) and coconut water for dinner after doing some yoga.
I love the fact that fruit is the easiest food to digest which accounts for lessened strain on the digestive system as you move out the...old stuff. Waste products of the metabolism are always acidic. "Fruits (and veggies) contain citric and milic acids which causes an acid pH reaction during digestion, but because of the high content of alkaline forming minerals their reaction in the bloodstream is always basic! In a toxic body, the organic fluid of fruit dissolves old waste deposits and stored chemicals into the bloodstream. This can create the feeling of irritability and fatigue. However, the bloodstream carries these toxins to the excretory organs for removal (i.e. your liver) and will be flushed out of your system. After compete detoxification, not only will the urine, saliva, and skin secretions be alkaline, but also they will have the taste and fragrance of the fruit eaten. Higher sensitivities to taste, smell, touch, and the digestive organs can be expected. Your digestive tract will, with this sensitivity, be able to decipher which foods are best for you. As your body increases its vitality on a diet closer to its needs, it vigorously rejects food which is harmful."
Please feel free to comment with questions or commentary of any sort really. I love hearing your feedback!
